Neben psychotherapeutischer Begleitung der Kinder und ihrer Eltern kann ggf. auch eine medizinische Behandlung indiziert sein, z. B. zur – notfalls reversiblen – Pubertätsblockade. So gewinnen die Jugendlichen zusätzliche Zeit für die Identitätsfindung und endgültige Entscheidung.
