Die in der Zeitschrift Circulation Arrhythmia Electrophysiology publizierte Originalarbeit von Quinn [1] aus der der Freiburger Arbeitsgruppe von Kohl hat eine größere mediale Beachtung gefunden. Seit langer Zeit arbeitet diese Arbeitsgruppe an Erklärungsansätzen für ein sog. mechano-elektrisches Feedback – also den Grundlagen für stoß- oder traumainduzierte ventrikuläre Arrhythmien wie bei einer Commotio Cordis oder einem hochenergetischen Schlag auf den Brustkorb.
