Summary
The use of cable pulley machines has been proven to be effective in the medical exercise therapy for rehabilitation of degenerative joint disease. As well as hip patients can be treated well by it due to the huge amount of possible movements. In view of the care situation and the problems with the cable exercises an expert sur-vey with 31 therapists (11± 6,6 years work experience) was carried out. The experts assess the cable pulley as an effective training instrument, but failure levels often occur within the performing exercises. Therapists perceive problems primarily in hip abduction and hip extension. The occurring fault cannot be corrected completely because of the small individual care time. The general conditions in the medical exercise therapy of the orthopedic rehabilitation does not allow an optimal use of cable pulley machines.
