Welcome to the second issue of volume 15 of the Ibnosina Journal of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. The issue has a variety of articles, including a viewpoint, a review, three original articles, and two case reports.

The review narrates the 2022 global literature on the impact of Ramadan fasting on health and disease. Cardiovascular medicine attracts the most interest this year and the usual wide variety is maintained.

Four original articles are included in this issue. Alibrahim et al examined the predictors of metformin side effects in patients with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus in Basrah, Iraq. Shah et al investigated the association between acculturation and obesity among female migrants in the United Arab Emirates. Ozturk et al compared the two-point compression ultrasonography performed by emergency medicine doctors and radiologists to detect deep vein thrombosis. Global research trends in endometrial hyperplasia were examined using bibliometric analysis and visualization methods by Angeliki Mina.

Two case reports are included in the issue. The first by Anees et al illustrates tissue damage caused by diclofenac injection as an example of Nicolau syndrome. Jingcai Wang and Samir Kahwash wrote a letter demonstrating lymphoblasts with engulfed red blood cells mimicking pseudo-Chediak-Higashi inclusions in a case of B-lymphoblastic leukemia.

We hope the contents will be of interest to our readers.
