Introduction of the Guest Editor for Obesity in Reproduction

For this issue of Seminars in Reproductive Medicine, we have selected as guest editor, Dr. Wendy Vitek. Dr. Vitek is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology by the American Board of Obstetrics Gynecology and is also certified in obesity medicine by the American Board of Obesity Medicine. This unique combination of certifications gives Dr. Vitek a qualified insight into the difficulties and challenges clinicians face with intersection of reproductive dysfunction and higher weight. She has selected a broad review of the topic and excellent primary authors to assist the reader with a comprehensive dive into the issues.
Dr. Vitek completed her medical school at the University of Rochester and her obstetrics and gynecology residency at the University of Pittsburgh. She did her fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at Women and Infant's Hospital at Brown University. She now practices as an academic reproductive endocrinologist at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, NY, where she is a professor of obstetrics and gynecology in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology. She conducts research focused on weight and infertility and is the program director for the REI fellowship. We hope this issue of Seminars in Reproductive Medicine provides an in-depth review of the challenges and solutions in the assessment and treatment of reproductive concerns in the setting of obesity.
