Weisheitszähne in der Kieferorthopädie

Zusammenfassung

50% der Menschen mit dritten Molaren haben Probleme mit diesen. Das Vorhandensein von Weisheitszähnen muss in der kieferorthopädischen Planung berücksichtig werden. Es gibt viele unterschiedliche Aspekte zum Thema Weisheitszähne: Agenesie, Retention, Zahnverlagerung, Malokklusion, Autotransplantation, Klase-III- Entwicklung, um einige zu erwähnen. Für Patient und Behandler besonders interessant ist auch die Rolle der Weisheitszähne in Zusammenhang mit einer Frontengstand-Entwicklung. Leider gibt es eine sehr kontroverse Datenlage und weitere qualitativ hochwertige Studien zu diesem Thema sind notwendig.

Abstract

About 50% of the people with wisdom teeth have problems with them. If a patient has third molars, it is very important to include them into the orthodontic treatment plan. There are many different topics concerning third molars: agenesis, impaction, malposition, malocclussion, autotransplantation, Class III development – just to account a few of them. The role third molars play in mandibular incisor crowding are very interesting as well. Unfortunately, there is a high heterogenity of data and there is still a lack of scientific evidence from high quality studies on this topic.
