Purpose Nasal bone fracture is the most common central midface fracture in cranial traumatology and one of the most frequent clinical pictures in large traumatology-oriented emergency departments. After successful closed reduction and persistent functional and aesthetic deficits, septorhinoplasty is usually recommended after a 6-month period. The aim of this study was to determine the frequency, functional and aesthetic results after posttraumatic septorhinoplasty based on patient satisfaction.

Methods A retrospective study was conducted, including the performed closed reduction of nasal fractures from 2015 to 2022 (891 patients). Inclusion was without regard to other midface fractures. Questionnaires were used to evaluate the frequency and results of functional septorhinoplasty after nasal bone fracture and unsatisfactory outcome considering functional and aesthetic aspects.

Results The incidence of septorhinoplasty after nasal bone fracture was less than 5%. There was a high degree of subjective satisfaction after functional septorhinoplasty from functional and aesthetic points of view.

Conclusion With high satisfaction, only a small number of functional septorhinoplasties after suffered nasal bone fractures can be found.
