Welcome to the third issue of volume 16 of the Ibnosina Journal of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. This issue contains six original articles and two clinical case reports.
The six original articles come from Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and the United Kingdom. Acem et al investigated the impact of delta troponin T on short-term mortality in patients with chronic renal dysfunction and non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction. Karanci et al presented an evaluation of regional wall motion abnormalities with echocardiography in the emergency department. The efficiency of an advanced hybrid closed insulin pump in patients with type 1 diabetes for improved blood glucose control was presented by Owaydah from the U.K. Başak et al presented a retrospective analysis of lower gastrointestinal endoscopies exploring the association between benign anorectal conditions and colorectal cancer. Woodman et al examined the attitudes of health care providers concerning disability in Saudi Arabia. Finally, the diagnostic value of the HALP (hemoglobin, albumin, lymphocyte, and platelet) score in detecting diabetic nephropathy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus was published by Atak et al.
The two clinical case reports presented intravenous ferric carboxymaltose-induced hypophosphatemia in a patient with systemic lupus erythematosus by Al Qassimi et al and the cystic appearance of a mediastinal mass does not exclude lymphoma as an example of classic Hodgkin lymphoma in a thymic cyst presented by Kahwash and a brief literature review.
