Being based on epistemological premises that are different from conventional medical practice, homeopathy suffers criticism from individuals who systematically disregard homeopathic principles and any scientific evidence that supports them.[1] To counter viewpoints such as “there is no scientific evidence for homeopathy” and “homeopathy is placebo effect”, the Technical Chamber for Homeopathy of the Regional Medical Council of the State of São Paulo (TC-Homeopathy, CREMESP, Brazil) produced the publication “Special Dossier: Scientific Evidence for Homeopathy” in 2017, available as open access editions in three languages (Portuguese, English and Spanish) in the scientific journals Revista de Homeopatia (São Paulo)[2] [3] and La Homeopatía de México.[4] Comprising nine narrative research reviews in several medical science fields (historical–social–political, medical education, pharmacological, basic, clinical, patient safety, pathogenetic experimentation) and reports of two randomized clinical trials developed by TC-Homeopathy members, the Dossier highlighted the contemporary state of the art of homeopathy research.

To extend and update that homeopathic scientific knowledge base, we published in 2023 the open access e-book in Portuguese (Virtual Health Library; PDF format), entitled Homeopatia não é Efeito Placebo: Comprovação das Evidências Científicas da Homeopatia,[5] which was translated into English and Spanish in 2024 (Homeopathy is not Placebo Effect: Proof of Scientific Evidence for Homeopathy/La homeopatía no es Efecto Placebo: Comprobación de las Evidencias Científicas en Homeopatía).[6] [7] Each of the three e-books is indexed and made available on other platforms and formats, such as the University of São Paulo Open Books Portal (PDF format)[8] and Amazon (Kindle File format).[9]

In 15 chapters per language, this e-book encompasses “Homeopathic clinical epidemiology” to “Pseudoskeptical and pseudoscientific strategies used in attacks on homeopathy”, via “Pharmacological basis of the principle of similitude”, “Experimental studies in biological models”, “Randomized controlled clinical trials”, “Systematic reviews” and “Observational studies”, among others. By presenting hundreds of experimental and clinical studies that successfully examine the principles, efficacy and effectiveness of homeopathic treatment, the e-book provides a significant body of supportive evidence that “homeopathy is not placebo effect”.
