Background

This issue of Seminars in Hearing contains proceedings from the inaugural University of Pittsburgh over-the-counter (OTC) Hearing Aid and Hearing Self-Care Symposium. The symposium was held at the University of Pittsburgh campus in June 2024. The goal of this symposium was to bring together pharmacy and audiology thought leaders, practitioners, and researchers with hearing industry experts to explore collaborative pathways for OTC hearing aid service delivery. Topics included Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, educational needs, and implementation approaches for OTC hearing aid dispensing and follow-up.
