In this review, we discuss the preparation of transition metal complexes of fulvenes by both direct (i.e. from fulvenes) and indirect (i.e. From other organic precursors) routes. The techniques involved are generally typical of those in use for the preparation of transition metal complexes, and result in a wide variety of types of products from fulvenes.
