Recent methods using derivatives of 1,3-oxazine and 1,3-thiazine as intermediates in organic syntheses are reviewed, attention chiefly being paid to publications which have appeared since earlier compilations1,2 and up to and including 1970. This review includes syntheses and reactions of 1. 5,6-Dihydro-4H-1,3-oxazines (1) 2. 4H-1,3-Oxazines (2) 3. 1+ -1,3-Oxazinium Salts (3) and 1+ -1,3-Thiazinium Salts (4).
