Recent developments in the use of organosilicon reagents for the protection of organic functional groups involving hetero atoms are discussed. Conditions of protection and deprotection are described as well as the selectivity of the reagents. 1. Protection for the Hydroxy Group 2. Protection for 1,2- and 1,3-Diols 3. Protection for the Carbonyl Group 4. Protection for the Carboxyl Group 5. Protection for the Amino Group 6. Protection for the Sulfur Atom 7. Protection for the Phosphorus Atom 8. Addendum 9.
