The synthesis and characterization of a new trithienocyclotriyne, 4,5,9,10,14,15-hexadehydrocyclododeca[1,2-b:5,6-b′:9, 10-b″]trithiophene, are described. The cyclotriyne was prepared by a Stephens-Castro coupling of 3-ethynyl-2-iodothiophene which, in turn, was prepared by a Brandsma iodination of 3-ethynylthiophene.
