Sequential reaction of S-methyl-S-phenyl-N-tosylsulphoximine (1) with butyllithium, potassium tert-butoxide and diethyl chlorophosphate, followed by the addition of aldehydes gives α,β-unsaturated sulphoximines 2 in good to excellent yield, and with high E-selectivity.
