The first synthesis of a pure, soluble substituted (phthalocyaninato)ruthenium(II), (C5H11O)8PcRu (4) by reaction of the corresponding metal-free phthalocyanine (C5H11O)8 PcH2 (3) with RuCl3 · xH2O in 2-ethoxyethanol is described. Also a new synthetic route for the unsubstituted (phthalocyaninato)ruthenium(II), PcRu (7) via the bisquinoline complex 9 is reported.
