α-(Benzotriazol-1-yl) carbanions, generated from 1-aryl-, 1-propyl- or 1-(phenylthiomethyl)benzotriazoles, reacted with 1,1-diarylethylenes to yield trisubstituted cyclopropanes in high yields.
