Catalytic oxidation of various substituted 1-chloro-1-trichloroethenylcyclopropanes 1a-i with ruthenium tetroxide generated in situ produces the corresponding 1-chlorocyclopropanecarboxylic acids 2a-i in good yields (78 to 95%).
