The palladium-catalyzed reaction of 2-alkynylphenols with tertiary propargyl carbonates gives 2-substituted 3-allenyl benzo[b]furans in moderate to good yields. This heteroannulation promoted by a σ-allenylpalladium complex proceeds under neutral conditions.
