5,5′-Dimethyl-2,2′-bipyridine and 5,5″-dimethyl-2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine were synthesized in multigram quantities in high yields utilizing organotin intermediates and Stille coupling procedures. The obtained ligands were dibrominated using N-bromosuccinimide.
