Diamide-calix[4]crown-4-ether 3, diester-calix[4]-crown-4-ether 5 and calix[4]-crown-4-ether 7 were conveniently oxidized by sodium perborate tetrahydrate in trifluoroacetic acid to afford the diquinone 4 and 6 and monoquinone 8, respectively. The structures of the calix[4]quinones were established by IR, MS, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and elemental analysis.
