Lanthanide Triflate and Triflide Catalyzed Atom Economic Nitration of Fluoroarenes
Further Information
Publication History
Publication Date:
31 December 2000 (online)
Ytterbium(III) triflate (10 mol%) was found to catalyze the nitration of a range of simple fluoroarenes whilst minimizing the common problem of HF liberation. For more electron deficient fluoroarenes, hafnium(IV) triflate and the ytterbium and scandium salts of triflidic acid (Tf3CH) were found to be significantly more effective catalysts.
catalysis - electrophilic aromatic substitutions - lanthanides - Lewis acids - nitration
