A mild and efficient new method for the preparation of O-acyl derivatives of N-hydroxythiazole-2(3H)-thiones and N-hydroxypyridine-2(1H)-thiones (Barton-anhydrides) for cyclic thiohydroxamic acids, carboxylic acids, propane phosphonic acid anhydride (PPAA) and 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (DABCO) was developed.
