ABSTRACT

Selective fallopian tube catheterization is an established technique in cases of tubal infertility. It can be adapted easily to selective fallopian tube occlusion for sterilization. An essential question remains: what occlusion material, device, product, compound will ensure safe, easy, and cheap tubal sterilization via a transvaginal-transuterine route? In these conditions, selective tubal sterilization could be a challenge to surgical techniques. We review the history and recent advances in selective tubal sterilization.
