Die Sensomotorik des Sprechens und Stotterns

Zusammenfassung

Ziel der Düsseldorfer Arbeitsgruppe war und ist es, in der Literatur berichtete experimentelle Ergebnisse der Stotterforschung durch eigene Untersuchungen zu überprüfen und vorliegende Stottertheorien auf ihre Tragfähigkeit abzuklopfen. Es zeigt sich, dass die Anzahl der Studien, in denen nach Unterschieden zwischen Gruppen erwachsener stotternder und nichtstotternder Personen gesucht wurde, zwar groß ist, der Erkenntnisgewinn im Hinblick auf die Verursachung des Stotterns dagegen klein bleibt, weil die Befunde meist uneinheitlich und widersprüchlich sind. Vor allem aber ist ein Mangel an Konzepten festzustellen, welche die beim Sprechen ablaufenden sensomotorischen Regelungs- und Steuerungsprozesse verdeutlichen, die im Normalfall den Sprechfluss auf unterer motorischer Ebene gliedern. Hierzu wird ein neues „Funktionsmodell der Sprechfluss-Kontrolle” vorgeschlagen, in dessen Rahmen die Kernsymptome des Stotterns dargestellt und erklärt werden können. Das Modell erlaubt auch die Beschreibung von sensomotorischen Lernprozessen, die beim Erwerb sprechmotorischer Fertigkeiten stattfinden müssen. Danach muss die Untersuchung frühkindlicher sprechmotorischer Lernprozesse als eine vordringliche Aufgabe der Stotterforschung angesehen werden. Es besteht die Hoffnung, aus den hierdurch gewonnenen pathophysiologischen Einsichten auch zu Kausal-Aussagen über die Ätiologie des Stotterns zu gelangen.

Sensorimotor Control of Speaking and Stuttering

Goal of the Duesseldorfian workgroup is to review and to check experimental results of stuttering research reported in the literature, and to assess present theories of stuttering. Obviously there exists a great number of studies concerned with differences between adults who stutter and adults who do not stutter, but insight into the origin of stuttering remains low, because results are ambigeous and even contradicting. Especially theories are missed that cover sensorimotor processes controlling the segmentation of the speech flow. For this reason we present a new model of speech flow, in the frame-work of which the basic symptoms of stuttering can be described and explained. The model also allows to depict sensorimotor learning concerning aquisition of speech. The considerations suggest that aquisition of speechmotor abilities need to be investigated in early childhood. It can be expected that patho-physiological insight gained in such studies will also lead to causal explanations regarding etiology of stuttering.
