Zusammenfassung

Bei einer 21-jährigen Patientin mit Typ-1-Diabetes seit neun Jahren trat am zweiten Tag nach Resektio eine passagere komplette Hemiparese mit Bewusstseinsstörung als Folge einer schweren Hypoglykämie auf. Hierbei handelt es sich um die seltene Komplikation eines Diabetes mellitus, die häufig für eine zerebrale Ischämie gehalten wird. Bei rascher Diagnosestellung und Behebung der Hypoglykämie ist mit einer völligen Wiederherstellung zu rechnen.

Summary

A 21-year-old patient with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus developed transient hypoglycemic hemiparesis and altered consciousness on the second day after repeat cesarean section. Hypoglycemic hemiparesis is a rare complication in patients with diabetes and is often misinterpreted as cerebral ischemia. Complete resolution of the symptoms is likely if the correct diagnosis is made promptly.
