Abstract
The article illustrates the possibilities of psychoanalytic psychotherapy as well as specific questions in need of clarification (such as mode and duration of illness, cross-section diagnosis, reversed transference constellation, prognostic assessment), using a case-study on the treatment of a 71-year-old female patient. The existing, still depressing reality of public attention to the elderly is explained by distinct resistance on the part of the elderly themselves, by the referring or treating physicians and especially by the psychotherapists (regardless of schooling).
