Abstract
This case report describes a collaborative treatment model of an interdisciplinary team of medical- and mental-health professionals, treating a 41 year old patient, that suffered from a Non Hodgkin lymphoma, followed by a severe depression. Based on a biopsychosocial model of medicine, the authors present a family systems approach, that includes the patients family and family history as a crucial component of treatment. Second, the model describes the interdisciplinary collaboration of biomedical and psychosocial professionals, working in both primary and tertiary care settings. Collaboration is conceptualized as a process that conserves resources for all participants: the patient, her family and the medical and mental-health professionals.
