Abstract
Numerous alcohols are effectively oxidized to corresponding aldehydes and ketones with H5 IO6 -TEMPO. The rate of oxidation parallels decreasing α-C-H bond dissociation energy, that is secondary alcohols react faster than primary alcohols.
