Zusammenfassung

Die Pendelapparaturen ermöglichen eine kooperationsunabhängige Molarendistalisation im Oberkiefer. Die Vielzahl der Modifikationen der Standard-Pendelapparatur verdeutlicht, dass die Grundproblematik der Pendelapparaturbehandlung (Kreuzbisstendenz in der Horizontalebene und Distalkippungen der Molaren in der Sagittalebene) von verschiedenen Autoren erkannt und auf unterschiedliche Art und Weise versucht wurde zu beheben. Der Behandler kann zwischen verschiedenen Gerätetypen wählen. Der nachfolgende Artikel beschreibt die verschiedenen Pendelapparaturen, ihre biomechanischen Besonderheiten, Wirkungen und Nebenwirkungen, und gibt Hinweise für den jeweiligen Indikationsbereich.

Summary

Pendulum appliances allow a compliance-independent distalization of upper molars. Basic problems of the treatment with a pendulum appliance are: a tendency towards crossbite in the horizontal plane and distal tipping of the molars in the sagittal plane. These shortcomings are recognized and faced by many investigators and led to the development of various modifications of the standard pendulum while the orthodontist has to select the appropriate type. The following article describes the different pendulum appliances, their biomechanical peculiarities, effects, side effects and special indications.
