For this very important issue of Clinics, I am very pleased to have two co-editors, with whom I have had the distinct pleasure of participating in their training.
Dr. David Margolin is a senior staff colon and rectal surgeon at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI. David was born in Cleveland, OH, and received an M.D. degree from the Medical College of Ohio, Toledo. His general surgery training was conducted at Case Western University in Cleveland, OH, which included 2 years of research. He then performed a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans, LA. After his fellowship, he joined the staff at Henry Ford.
Dr. Margolin has served as a reviewer for Diseases of the Colon and Rectum. He has published over 20 peer-reviewed articles and multiple book chapters on colorectal subjects. He is a member of multiple medical societies and serves as the Vice Chair of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons Socioeconomic Committee. Dr. Margolin maintains a very busy clinical practice and deals with colorectal polyps on a daily basis. He is an active researcher but still finds time to educate medical students, surgical residents, and colorectal fellows.
David and his wife, Jeanne Rademacher, M.D., who is a practicing pediatrician, live with their two children in Detroit. In addition to working, David enjoys running, cooking, and playing with his kids. The entire family likes to visit New Orleans any chance they can.
Dr. W. Brian Perry is a Lt. Colonel in the United States Air Force and currently serves as the Program Director of the General Surgery Residency Program and Chief of Colorectal Surgery at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center at Lackland AFB, TX. Brian was born in Natchitoches, LA, and received an M.D. degree from Duke University, Durham, NC. His general surgery training was conducted at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center. He then performed a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans, LA. After his fellowship, he returned to the USAF and joined the staff at Wilford Hall.
Dr. Perry also currently serves as the Consultant to the USAF Surgeon General for Colorectal Surgery. In addition to his military duties, Brian is an active researcher and has produced multiple contributions to our literature. He is an active member of several surgical societies.
Dr. Perry maintains a very busy clinical practice in which colonoscopy and the management of polyps play a major role. He educates medical students and surgical residents on a daily basis and is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Uniform Services University for the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD, and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, TX.
Brian, his wife, Holly, and their three children, Katherine, Patrick, and Austin, live in San Antonio, TX. When not working and helping take care of his children, Brian enjoys golf, astronomy, and watching the San Antonio Spurs.
On behalf of the readers and staff of Clinics of Colon and Rectal Surgery, I thank Drs. Margolin and Perry for serving as Guest Editors and for providing us with a comprehensive update and review of colorectal polyps.
