Lipid-Rich Carcinoma of the Female Breast - Clinical, Mammographic, Sonographic, and Histologic Diagnosis: Case Report and Literature Review

Zusammenfassung

Lipidreiche Mammakarzinome stellen mit einer Inzidenz von 1 - 1,6 % eine sehr seltene Entität unter den Mammakarzinomen dar. In der Literatur sind lediglich 50 Fälle publiziert, davon je einer bei einem Mann und einem Kind und 48 bei der Frau. Klinische, sonographische und mammographische Zeichen für diese Sonderform des Mammakarzinoms, histologische Charakteristika und das therapeutische Management werden beschrieben und diskutiert.

Abstract

With an incidence of 1 - 1.6 %, lipid-rich breast carcinoma represents a very rare entity among breast cancers. Only 50 cases are reported in the literature, including 1 in a male, 1 in a child and 48 in women. In addition to the clinical, sonographic, and mammographic characteristics of this special type of breast cancer, this case report includes a discussion of the histologic features and therapy options.
