ABSTRACT

Septic arthritis is a disabling and potentially life-threatening condition that requires prompt diagnosis and treatment. Radiologists play a vital role in both the diagnosis and management of these patients and, therefore, need to be aware of the imaging findings in both acute and chronic septic arthritis. Because early diagnosis and intervention are major determinants in final outcome, it is vitally important that these patients be evaluated and diagnosed expeditiously.
