Zusammenfassung
Rauchen ist der wichtigste vermeidbare gesundheitliche Risikofaktor. Eine systematische Erfassung des Raucherstatus und klare Empfehlung mit dem Rauchen aufzuhören gehören zur allgemeinärztlichen Basisprävention. Zentral sind eine Abschätzung der Änderungsbereitschaft und ein darauf abgestimmtes Angebot. Bei verä nderungsbereiten Personen kann eine Nikotinersatztherapie die Abstinenzrate verdoppeln. Zur Dosisfindung kann der Fagerström-Fragebogen eingesetzt werden. Kognitiv-verhaltenstherapeutische Strategien sind effektiv zur Unterstützung der Raucherentwöhnung. Bupropion kann aufgrund seines Nebenwirkungsprofils nur eingeschrä nkt empfohlen werden.
Abstract
Smoking is the most important preventable health risk factor. Systematic assessment and counselling for smoking cessation is an essential part of preventive medicine in a primary care setting. Core element is the assessment of stage of change and a corresponding tailored advice. For patients who are motivated to stop smoking, nicotine replacement therapy can double the cessation rate. The Fagerström questionnaire is useful for determining the appropriate dose. Cognitive-behavioural strategies are effective in supporting smoking cessation. Bupropion is effective for smoking cessation, but due to side effects cannot be generally recommended.

1 OR = Odds ratio, gibt an, um wie viel größer die Wahrscheinlichkeit der Chance eines Erfolges in Abhängigkeit der verwendeten Methode ist. Ein OR von 2,73 gibt z. B. an, dass diese Chance um das 2,73fache höher liegt als bei der Anwendung der Vergleichsmethode oder des Plazebos.
