Abstract
This paper deals with Class III malocclusions of the hyperdivergent and hypodivergent
type and with Class II malocclusions with open bite respectively. The use of multiloop
edgewise archwires (MEAW) with different tip back mechanics and short intermaxillary
elastics primarily effects the inclination of the occlusal plane and allows the reposition
of the mandible. Leveling the teeth in a correctly inclined occlusal plane is the
key to stability of the adjusted occlusion.
