Publication History
Publication Date:
09 February 2005 (online)
The area of telepractice is one with great promise for the future of health care and accessibility of healthcare services. These pioneers of telepractice in audiology have developed unique programs to solve specific problems or have addressed unique issues that have presented themselves in the administration of a telepractice program. It is hoped that this issue will enlighten the reader about this relatively new and very important area of audiology. The discussion include the application of telepractice in audiology in the areas of neonatal hearing, otoacoustic emissions, remote diagnostic audiology, speech identification, auditory evoked potentials, vestibular assessment, ethics, and licensure. Although every area of concern could not be addresses in this issue of Seminars, I hope that the reader will finish this issue wanting to investigate how this approach might enhance his or her practice.
