Selective Oxidation of Methylarenes with Pyridinium Chlorochromate

Abstract
A simple and selective method for oxidation of methylarenes, using pyridinium chlorochromate (PCC) is described. This reagent can efficiently oxidize methylarenes to the corresponding aldehydes under mild aprotic conditions.
