Introduction

The high recurrence rate of hepatolithiasis, together with the high operative risk of hepatectomy performed for stones in certain locations has until now been a difficult problem. In this report we describe a new treatment method we have devised to prevent postoperative recurrence of hepatolithiasis. Based on our previous animal experiments, this method of chemical bile duct embolization effectively results in chemical hepatectomy [1] [2].
