Summary
Between 2001 and 2005 an interdisciplinary research-team at the University of Berne performed a scientifically rigorous randomized controlled trial with homeopathic treatment of 62 ADHD-patients. In an initial phase of open label treatment the optimal individual homeopathic prescription was determined. This „screening-phase” was followed by a randomized double blind trial with crossover, in which the effects of homeopathic treatment and placebo were compared. An open label treatment follow-up of a mean duration of 19 months yielded further information on the overall effects of homeopathy in ADHD-patients.
The trial yields scientific evidence of the effectiveness of homeopathy in ADHD-treatment, particularly in the areas of behavioural and cognitive functions.
