Abstract
The short-term ventilation tube can easily be cut with sterile scissors out of a sterile indwelling catheter ("Braunüle") and be kept sterile. The eardrum will be locally anaesthetized by a layer of cotton wool soaked with DMSO (dimethylsulfoxid). The drum will be punctured by a lancet in the anterior lower quadrant as always. Following this, the short-term ventilation tube will be inserted with its sharp tip with an ear-forceps. The tube stays in place until its spontaneous extrusion. The drum will heal without a scar. The self-made short -term ventilation tube is a costs-favourable alternative to the well-known prefabricated minimal ventilation tube. Its application is a specific ENT-operation of high effectiveness.
