Hexamethylenetetramine-Mediated Transesterification of β-Keto Esters

Abstract

Treatment of methyl or ethyl β-keto esters with primary, secondary, or tertiary alcohols in the presence of a catalytic amount of hexamethylenetetramine results in good to high yields of the corresponding esters.
