Abstract

A cytotoxic pennogenin glycoside, pennogenin 3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1 →4)-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1 →4)-[α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→2)]-β-D-glucopyranoside (1) was isolated from the whole herb of Majanthemum dilatatum. Compound 1 showed potent cytotoxic activity against human cancer cell lines.
