Abstract

The aerial parts of Cunila spicata Benth., a Brasilian Lamiaceae, afforded a sesquiterpene-aldehyde named isocaryophyllen-13-al (β-betulenal) (1). The constitution and configuration of this compound were established by high field NMR-techniques for the first time.
