Abstract

A new water-soluble saponin (esculentoside H) has been isolated from the roots of Phytolacca esculenta and identified as 3-O-[β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→4)-β-D-xylopyranosyl]-28-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl phytolaccagenin.
