Abstract

From Mutisia acuminata var. hirsuta Meyen (Asteraceae) three known compounds, quercetin-3-glucuronide, L-inositol, and arbutin, and three new phenolic compounds, 2-hydroxy-5-methyl-chromone-2-β-D-glucopyranoside, 11,12-dihydroxy-5-methylcoumestan, and 2′,4′:4,5-furocoumarin, were isolated. The compound 11,12-dihydroxy-5-methylcoumestan showed biological activity in the leucocyte-5-lipoxygenase test and in the primary cultured hepatocytes system.
