Abstract

A radioimmunoassay is described for the rapid measurement of vitamin D derivatives in calcinogenic plants, using a commercially available antibody. A high specificity of the antibody for the 25-hydroxy group was detected in a series of synthetic vitamin D derivatives, and its steric requirements are discussed. The advantages and utility of this assay for large screening programs, plant selection and breeding, tissue culture studies and purification work, are evaluated.
