Abstract
Twenty-four diterpenoids from the plant of the genus Rabdosia, Labiatae, were examined for the cytotoxic activity against HeLa cells and several of them were examined for their effects on the life span of mice inoculated with Ehrlich ascites carcinoma cells. All the tested compounds except for sculponeatin B (19) and isodonal (21) showed stronger in vitro activity than oridonin (11) used as positive control. The results also showed that leukamenin B (2), kambebanin (6), effusanin A (14), and sculponeatin C (20) are the most effective in vivo among the tested compounds.
