Differentialdiagnostisch zum Glomustumor sind ein hochstehender Bulbus venae jugularis und eine lateral verlagerte Arteria carotis zu bedenken. Die Gefäßveränderungen können als Zufallsbefunde bei normalen Mittelohreingriffen gefunden werden. Eine Behandlung ist normalerweise nicht erforderlich. Vor Inzisionen ohne angiografische Vordiagnostik wird gewarnt.
Summary
The carotid artery and the jugular bulb can protrude into the middle ear, representing a chance finding during middle ear surqery. Since these vascular abnormalities do not require surgical treatment and incisions are dangerous, it will be necessary to differentiate between such conditions and Glomus tumours. Hence, preliminary diagnosis by angiography is a „must”.
