Abstract

The clinician evaluating a patient with known or suspected lung disease has a wide range of imaging techniques at his or her disposal. Unfortunately, increasing technologic sophistication is accompanied by a bewildering range of new terminology and acronyms. This article defines the available techniques for imaging the lungs, from conventional radiography to PET scanning, and a summary of the value and limitations of each method.
