range of imaging techniques at his or her disposal. Unfortunately, increasing technologic
sophistication is accompanied by a bewildering range of new terminology and acronyms.
This article defines the available techniques for imaging the lungs, from conventional
radiography to PET scanning, and a summary of the value and limitations of each method.
