Summary

TRH and TSH levels in plasma were increased and TSH responsiveness to TRH was enhanced by adrenalectomy. T₄ and T₃ levels in plasma were increased after adrenalectomy, but rT₃ levels in plasma did not change. Findings suggested that adrenalectomy might affect the multiple sites of the hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid axis in rats, causing changes in secretion or degradation of TRH, TSH and thyroid hormones.
